The purification of stones

Cleansing stones is one of the basic principles of crystal healing. It is important to take care of your stones. Just as the human body needs to cleanse and recharge, the same is true for stones, albeit on their own timescale.

Using minerals in our daily lives also exposes them to their inherent limitations. When a stone is used for its energy and benefits, we interact with it. When the stone's energy is no longer felt, it may be time to cleanse it. The stone has already performed energetic work and absorbed the surrounding energies to the maximum extent. Continuing to use a stone that has absorbed negative energies can lead to stagnation.

It is therefore important to purify your stone to maintain the energetic connection and benefit from its energy.

It is important to note that the desired results are not achieved without a minimum of intention and investment from the person using them, which will allow the energetic link with the stone to be forged.

Taking care of your stones starts from the moment you acquire them until you use them, allowing them to get rid of accumulated energies and restore their own energy.

Thus, there are different methods for cleaning them.

Indirect salt purification

This method is one of the best known and most effective in lithotherapy and is suitable for all varieties of stones.

To perform this ritual, simply place your stones to be purified in a glass container. This container will then be placed inside a larger container filled with coarse salt or Himalayan salt.

The stones are not in direct contact with the salt.

When changing the salt, the old salt must be disposed of outside your home.

Frequency of salt change : every week

Approximate purification time : 30 minutes to 1 hour

Water purification

This purification method involves direct contact with water. However, it is not suitable for all stones, as some can be damaged by contact. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the stones you wish to purify in this way can withstand it. Once the purification is complete, the water must be disposed of outside the building or not allowed to stagnate in places such as septic tanks.

Purification by water can be done in 2 ways: placing the stone in a container of water or passing it through water while visualizing the negative energies being removed/while setting an intention to purify it.

Frequency for a stone "bath" : once a month

Approximate purification time : 5 to 8 hours

Frequency for underwater swimming : once a week

Purification by fumigation

Smudging purifies both the stones and their surroundings. This method is preferred for stones that are stored or displayed decoratively in the home.

To do this, one can use incense (benzoin or camphor), plants with an intention (sage, lavender, rosemary, bay leaf) and wood (palo santo) with an intention .

To perform this method, you need to open the windows, we go around the area concerned dispersing the smoke without forgetting to insist where there is one or more stones.

Cleaning frequency: once a week

Approximate duration : a few minutes

Purification by burial

This method involves burying the stone(s) in the earth at a depth of approximately 15-20 cm. This process renews the energy of the stones through contact with telluric currents. It is a method that purifies and recharges simultaneously.

It requires some precautions to find the stones because we are well aware that there is movement and life under the ground.

Indicative duration : 1 month

Purification through intention

This methodology encompasses all purification methods, including visualization, prayer, and rituals requiring no equipment. The effectiveness of these various processes is closely linked to the customs and traditions that have shaped them, as well as to the personal energy of the individual using them. Personal energy is therefore essential for this type of method, unlike others.

Cleaning frequency: once a week

Approximate duration : a few minutes
